ChopStick Flyer II

Well, they say that if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. So I did. This represents the second attempt at making a chopstick fly. The reality of the situation was that I had the other chopstick of the pair hanging around and I hate to throw things out, so I whipped up this little plane to use it.

This plane was much better thought out than the first one. I took a bit more care in construction this time and, at the very least produced a rather pretty little plane. I hope to get some real pictures in here one day... The extra braces that I designed into the flight surfaces did their job and prevented the warpage that plagued my other planes.

The performance of this little plane is a bit lacking due to the immense weight of the chopstick and the copper wire it took to balance it. The plane is stable and files well, even if the stall speed is very high.

If you want the DXF file of the plans just follow the link. If you click on the little picture on this page you get to see a bigger picture of the plans and clicking on the little picture to the left gets you a bigger picture of the finished plane.
